After choosing the song lyrics and storyboarding I had to decide the small details that would mark the change towards creating a total visual journey. I will have to think about the pace, transitions and other ideas.

As the song is slow paced but has high peak moments right before the chorus where a black screen is needed in order to change atmosphere and situate the viewer on another scenario. For example in the first chorus, right on the beat before it starts there is a fade out to a black screen and on beat when the chorus is about to start there is a fade in to the first scene where you can see Eden. This is the only type of transitions used apart from all the cuts that have been used through out the music video. This differentiates and gives importance to the chorus, hinting to the viewer that it symbolises something special. Here you have an example of my production:

As I wanted to make my music video stand out from the rest due to the great visuals and cinematography I had to do some research on what would make it special and enhance the main character. Something that would richen my production for sure would be shooting during the golden hour which usually happens after sunrise or before sunset that's why I had to divide the shooting timings in two different days. One day I would shoot in the morning and another during the sunset. As I wanted to use natural light in all the shots done in the countryside I had to be careful as the amount of time to shot them was very restricted.

Shot in the morning (9am)

Shot in the afternoon (4pm)

Shot in the afternoon (6pm)

Another thing that is very important is the place to shoot, for example a visually rich location, in this case we have two different places. One is visually rich due to the amount of detail in it (the forest) and the other due to the simple use of candles (bath). This two settings make it different from the rest of the other music videos as they are chosen for a reason and they have been analysed beforehand as to how the camera should be positioned in order to reach its full potential.

Every single shot has been edited to be slow paced 10%, giving the shots a more melancholic and exaggerated look. It dramatised every scene much more and gave it a special feeling of intimacy because you are able to pay attention to every small detail in the frame, for example Eden blinking. This obviously added to the visual experience as it is a way of helping the viewer take in everything that they are seeing.
